Pan-O-Prog Bass Tourament 07/10/10
By: Lindgren, Rich
Published Date: 7/16/2010
The Lakeville Pan-O-Prog bass tournament is always a fun event, always the first Saturday after the 4th of July on Lake Marion in Lakeville, MN. Weights are often surprisingly large for such a small metro lake with 40 boats giving it all they have for 7 hours. The normal is for the winners to bring in 22-24lbs for 6 fish. This is the first year of Gopher Bassmasters running this event. Local favorites of Sean Frame & Jerry Hawke took first place with a total weight of 18.16 lbs, their big bass of the day was only 3.68lbs. On stage the team was pretty tight lipped not wanting to share any info. They did confess to catching all their bass shallow. 2nd place was held down by Matt Pretzel and Phil Smith. Their total weight of 16.74lbs were plucked late in the day from deeper weed edges and points. Ryan Brant & Rich Lindgren took 3rd place eaked out 3rd place with 14.58lbs, targeting shallow cover with Tru-Tungsten jigs and a black Secret Weapon Lure Buzzbait. They commented they only had 7 keeper bites, but they were decent quality and they converted all but one. Thanks to Super K Jigs & Skeet Boat Center for supporting this tournament!
