Bass Fishing Report; Madison Chain of Lakes, May 6, 2007

Air Temp: 62 degrees
Water Temp:58 degrees
Skies: 25-30 mph E/SE winds, cloudy
Water: Clear
I got out on Sunday for my annual opener on the Madison Chain. It was less than perfect conditions. The winds kept us from fishing anything other than a power presentation in my favorite spots. We did end up catching a number of fish, but nothing over three pounds. We concentrated on weed flats in about three feet of water in Lake Waubesa . The higher the weeds, the better the fishing was. All of our fish came on a Brovarney Baits swim jig this day, except one muskie caught on a jerk bait. Others I talked to around the lake reported similar findings as the bite was tough. The warm weather in the following weeks should bring the fish up in the shallows to spawn. He did see a number of empty beds where we were at, but they should move back up this week with the water temps rising back up into the 80’s.
If you have any questions about anything I was doing this past weekend, please feel free to contact me via a PM on the message board. Also please check out the line of swim jigs I was using at www.brovarneybaits.com .
